DOCOMOMO/US FLORIDA hopes to increase public and professional awareness of Florida's Modern Heritage through organized events and tours, developing useful Internet resources, electronic mailing lists, and ongoing documentation outreach to other preservation organizations and professional groups.
Documentation of Florida's existing Modern resources will assist preservation efforts. DOCOMOMO/US FLORIDA has begun to compile a statewide inventory of these resources. This growing registry documents important districts, buildings, landscapes, interiors, and public art. The registry may assist with nomination of important resources to the national DOCOMOMO Registry.
DOCOMOMO stands for DOcumentation and COnservation of buildings, sites and neighborhoods of the MOdern MOvement. Initially founded in 1988 in The Netherlands, there are now DOCOMOMO working parties in over 40 countries. The organization is dedicated to the study of significant works of Modern Movement architecture, landscape design and urban planning around the world. DOCOMOMO/US is the official Working Party of the United States.

Dedicated to the documentation and preservation of Modern Movement buildings and sites of the recent past -- broadly defined as 1920-1970 -- DOCOMOMO investigates the aesthetic, technical and social significance of this important body of work, from the iconic to the almost unknown. DOCOMOMO's scope is also broad: from transparent skyscrapers to the quintessential modern house; urban planning to Eames chairs. Founded as the US Working Party, DOCOMOMO/US has been organizing chapters and gaining recognition in the U.S. since 1995.
