DOCOMOMO/US Florida Windshield Survey

Have you seen an unusual bank, store, or office building in a small town? Is there a peculiar, but interesting house in your neighborhood? If you think it might be from the Modern Movement, let us know by contributing to our Windshield Survey.

Send us a digital image and/or description of the building or landscape. Please be sure to note the full address, whether the building is currently occupied, and any other information you may know about its provenance.

DOCOMOMO/US Florida Register

The FLA Register is a comprehensive database of significant Modern Movement resources within the state of the Sunshine State.

The first step towards nominating a building to the Florida Register is completing a DOCOMOMO fiche - A standardized documentation form used by DOCOMOMO chapters around the world. The format for DOCOMOMO documentation is similar in scope and style to forms utilized by both the National and Florida Registers of Historic Places. All relevant fields in the form should be filled out and submitted along with photographs to the regional chapter’s mailing address. In the future, this documentation may be submitted online.

Once the nomination has been reviewed and approved by the Florida Register Committee, the building or site is placed on the Florida Register and also forwarded to the DOCOMOMO US National Register. If appropriate, the resource may be submitted to the International Secretariat for inclusion on the DOCOMOMO International Register.

Please note there are two fiche formats available. Although the long fiche is more comprehensive and preferred, the Florida  Chapter accepts short fiches for resources about which there is limited information.
